The winter is fading, but there’s still enough left to merit finding a cozy space. Grab a book and a cup of tea and sink into the calm solitude of this deep blue library. This reading nook boasts floor-to-ceiling bookshelves painted in a cadet blue, a fresh change from more commonly seen shades of navy and china blue. Renowned for its calming properties, blue perfectly suits bedrooms, porches and just about anywhere you want to relax. This library’s particular hue of blue lends a sense of reassuring solidity, not stuffiness.

This small area plays with cool tones and warm: plush apricot pillows and a rusty red occasional table lend a dusting of warmth to the palette. Also, the traditionally tailored sofa juxtaposed with an animal print partner and a rattan coffee table creates a slightly playful and informal area. This room is not taking itself over seriously, and the antique lion figure surveying the scene approves.
